CORE GROUPS

What is a Core Group?

Core groups meet once a week face to face if at all possible. They are groups of two or three, to add a fourth person is to agree to multiply in to two groups within 6 to 9 weeks. Core groups are not mixed gender, all men or all women. Core groups use only the Bible as their text, no other sources and they do not have a leader other than Christ, equality among members is important.

Each week, the group should be reading 20 to 30 chapters of the Bible (see question 6). If you do not finish the reading together, read it again until you do, trust God to tell you when you are finished with what He is teaching you and the group. You can never read it to many times. If the section the group has chosen to read is less than 20 chapters read it twice, even three times. Say you choose the book of Ephesians with 6 chapters; you would read it three times in one week to cover 24 chapters. The idea is to make it a stretch, getting all of it read is not the goal. Getting into your heart is the goal.
